Valentine's Visits

For Valentine's Day, my ridiculously amazing boyfriend flew across the world to take me out (I know - he's the best.) We originally had plans to book a trip to somewhere romantic for a weekend getaway (I had my eyes set on Florence) but I unfortunately had "thesis fever" -  a condition Master's degree candidates get when they have realized they have an insane amount of writing to do in a very short amount of time. I knew if we went away I wouldn't get any work done, so unfortunately, our dream of a getaway was stomped.

I was originally bummed, and really mad at myself for not getting more done earlier, but we ended up having a really lovely time. On the day of Valentine's Day, he took me to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants (partially due to the fact that all the fancy restaurants we wanted to go to were completely booked up for dinner, and partially due to the fact that neither of us like crowds) and then I took him to see the Lego Movie. Afterwards we bought ingredients, made a really indulgent dinner together and watched Netflix with a huge box of chocolate.

He did actually end up taking me out to dinner (and lunch...and breakfast...) a couple times while he was here (what can I say? We both love food and trying new restaurants!) which I of course documented because I am one of those annoying people who takes pictures of their food:

(I am fully aware of how ridiculous this is. Needless to say the gym is something I'm planning on now that my thesis is finished!)

I also gave him an extremely romantic Valentine's present:

Nothing says "I love you" quite like a Muppet's t-shirt!

The only touristy thing we did while he was here was spend an afternoon at the Dublin Zoo, which was tiny but still awesome because I looooove me some animals.

The other lemurs were cuddling, and this one was being emo in the corner

The fattest, fluffiest tiger I have ever seen enjoying the sun

An out of focus photo of giraffes walking away from me (bitches)

I've never been this close to a penguin! I wanted to pick him up!

Red pandas (my favorite!) having a cuddle

In the bird sanctuary - this one was so frickin' beautiful, I didn't capture it well but the feathers on his head are so intricate and unique.

He didn't take much of a liking to me and my camera though, as you can see. How rude!

I also found a big cock! Hahaaaaaaaaa! Get it?

I'm not a big fan of monkeys but I liked this one, even though he played mind games with me and turned around whenever I lifted my camera

I think at this point I have done every touristy thing you can do in Dublin. Not even kidding. I feel accomplished!

Some exciting news - my lovely Valentine has informed me that he will officially be moving to Dublin!! Long story short - he bought a house back in California that's being built from scratch & his job has an office here, so he's transferring to be closer to me until his house is ready. I never though I would find a guy who would love me enough to move across the world for me - although at this point I'm mildly convinced he's not a human. Needless to say I'm excited to have him around for a while :)
