A nice time in Nice

After stopping by Lyon, we took a train that passed by all the big spots in the South of France. I saw Marseille, Provence, Cannes, Avignon, and Toulon from the train before we finally got off in Nice. Though I only got a taste of it through the window, it was pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. Very relaxed with a beach-y vibe, a little grungy in areas but overall very beautiful. Nice also fits that description pretty perfectly, except with a little more of an Italian vibe going on. If Naples and Lyon had sex, their love child would be Nice. Fact!

We stayed two blocks from the beach, so needless to say we took full advantage of that. We spent the majority of our time sun bathing and enjoying the absolutely incredible weather. Being lazy was glorious and very much needed - at this point Angelina and I hadn't been in the same place for more than a night in over a week!

We did eventually get around to doing something other than lying around - we explored the city and took a hike up to a castle (that is now in ruins) that had - wait for it - another incredible view. I'm pretty sure we've managed to see a view in every city we've been to. Angelina proclaimed to me the other day "I'm pretty sure my eyes are like, tired of looking at stuff." and sadly, I agree with her. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love traveling but this whole living out of a backpack/never sleeping/always moving thing definitely takes a toll on your health. We are both ready to be in Paris and be able to stay in one place for a while!

To add to the madness, we met this crazy French dude who basically was fucking telepathic. We were walking around downtown in the evening, checking out the nightlife Nice has to offer, when I saw the words "Nutella Crepe" written on a sidewalk sign. Obviously I stopped because Nutella may very well be the one true love of my life, and this old French guy comes out of  NOWHERE and starts talking to us. He ended up being the owner of the restaurant I was looking at, and he said he was intrigued by Angelina and I and wanted to talk with us. We agreed, because - why not? He brought us free champagne and sat down with us while we ate. Then, he says that he reads energies and that our energies were special and he'd like to tell us about ourselves. Uhh...ok? Go for it. So this guy starts talking, and I am not bullshitting you when I say he literally knew EVERYTHING about our lives. He started telling us about our personalities, love lives, family history, etc and everything he said was true. Never met him or seen him before, and he knew things that only my close friends and family know. We stayed talking with him until the restaurant closed. Definitely one of the weirdest experiences of my life.

So besides that crazy mind-fuck of a night, Nice is definitely somewhere to relax and enjoy the simple things. There's not much to see or entertain but it's a great place for relaxation. Just make sure not to talk to any crazy French dudes unless you want your energy read!
